This page explains common error messages encountered by applicants while completing or submitting an application package. Many errors are a result of Adobe Software Compatibility issues. At any time, applicants may call or email the Grants.gov Support Center at 1-800-518-4726 or support@grants.gov for assistance with resolving these issues.

You received one of these error messages because your application package or form was opened, edited, submitted, or corrupted by using a version of Adobe Reader that is incompatible with Grants.gov. Any and all edits made to an Adobe Reader application package or form must be made with a compatible version of Adobe Reader. To resolve these issues, a new application package needs to be downloaded and completed using only a compatible version of the software. Refer to the Adobe Software Compatibility page for more information.

Intake Servlet Is Unable To Save The Data. Broken PipeIf you receive the "Broken Pipe" message, this means there were intermittent interruptions during your submission. Although you may receive this error message, your submission may have been properly received by Grants.gov. However, this message prevents you from automatically receiving a Grants.gov tracking number for your application.

If the issue occurs during login, close your Internet browser window and log in to Grants.gov again.

Failed to Save AttachmentIf you are receiving this error message, check that you have properly saved all of your application package's supporting documents. Failure to do so will result in the package not being properly transmitted to Grants.gov.

Although the error message suggests that the issue is with "a network," this is not always the case. So, let's check out what causes the "Chrome download failed network error" and explore all possible solutions.

It's highly likely that this Chrome download network error is caused by your computer's antivirus program. That's because most antivirus programs include traffic monitoring features such as HTTPS scanning. These features help protect your PC against malware hidden behind secured and encrypted websites.

If you see this error message, download and open the file on your computer or phone to view it.Note: Previews will be generated only for the file types available to the file owner. For example, if a user on a Basic plan shares a .mxf file with a user on a Professional Plan, the user on the Professional plan will not be shown a preview, even though the Professional plan should allow previews for those file types. Check this article for file types that each Dropbox plan supports.

If you're seeing the error message This file is too big to preview, it's because Dropbox sets a limit on the size of files that can preview. The file you're trying to preview exceeds this limit.

If you're seeing the error message Files without extensions cannot be previewed, it's because the file doesn't have a suffix attached to the filename. File suffixes (or "extensions") indicate the type of file, and help your computer understand which application to use to open it. If you remove this extension, the file won't preview.
